The constant rainfall has been a mild annoyance for most of us here in the Midwest but there is a much smaller segment of our population that are extremely concerned for their livelihood, i.e. farmers.

The incessant rain has forced farmers all throughout the Midwest to delay planting their soybean and corn crops. This will drastically lower yields this year. Corn and soybeans are two of the largest food products that USA produces and exports and we are the by far the biggest producers of soy and corn products in the world!

This low yield could have a direct correlation to your pocketbook. With low yields we should see an increase in the price of corn and soybeans and subsequently all the products that are derived from them which would be anything with cornstarch or soybean extract- which if you take a stroll down your local grocery store aisle, is pretty much everything!
